Chick To Sea Express

Wow, I could say so much but all I could really say is wow. My fish and chip meal today was so darn good the crisp batter was so tasty then the fresh cut fries with the perfect amount of salt. I could keep going on because my girlfriend had the fresh chicken strips. Yeah she will have to do her own review. This is my review and my review says this place rocks great great job and can’t wait to come back.

My friends pitched me so much about this place, and backed up by the disappointment of it being closed the last time I came, I had strong urge to try their food even more! Drive all the way from Langford (in Victoria) to Nanaimo to have Chick to Sea Express. I am not much of a sea food person (yet!) so I went with their Crispy Chicken Sandwich meal. The sandwich, essentially a burger was very filling, and taste wise it was 6/10. Fries were crispy and thick cut. The size of the burger was quite big! All the other customers ordered sea-food! I believe it’s 95% sea food place and 5% chicken. The seating arrangement is small, pretty decent for to accommodate 15 people at once. Also, there is ample of parking, which is nice and convenient. Overall, the experience was good. Will I be visiting again? Yes, only if I become a sea food person!

I was FINALLY able to check out Chick To Sea Express and am I ever glad I did! Pictured is an order of 2 pieces of cod and fries. Note the 2 HUGE pieces of cod AND a bonus third piece. Delicious fresh, moist cod and wonderful English style chips (NOT those skinny little pieces of disappointment they serve at a certain fast food chain). I ate only half of this and stopped because I was comfortably full. Really looking forward to eating the 2nd half tomorrow (but I don't think I will be able to wait until supper time.Lunch anyone?). Oh, and I will DEFINITELY be going back.

Large portions and fresh fish! Great quality and nicely breaded - not too thin not too thick. However the fish were incredibly bland, especially in the burger. Didn’t want to smother it in tartare sauce either. A bit of salt would go a long way!

My husband and I were so impressed with this little gem of a restaurant! A friend from my husband’s work recommended it, and we’re so glad we went. From the moment we walked in, the young lady serving us was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The prices were very reasonable, the portions were huge, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, lightly battered, not greasy at all, and full of flavor. We also tried the chicken strips, and they were just as amazing - crispy, tasty, and not greasy. Even the fries were excellent (and it’s hard to find a place that does fries really well!). There was so much food that my husband had extra fish, chips, and chicken strips to take for lunch the next day. We highly, highly recommend Chick to Sea. It’s a hidden gem right now, but once people discover it, I know they’ll keep coming back.

The service was very friendly and it was a generous portion of fries and the fish was about average sized pieces for what I’m used to. We had the 4 piece cod combo and they even threw in a 5th piece of cod which was really nice. Some seating available but we chose to eat by the marina as it was quite warm in the restaurant. Good coleslaw and really nice house made tartar sauce too. All in all crispy and delicious, would strongly recommend!

Best Fish n Chips that we have found on Vancouver Island. Authentic Fish n Chips with homemade tartar sauce The staff which I believe own the place are incredibly friendly and all around nice people. This is a place you overlook the building and location but take the plunge as the food is so very impressive.
